Dan Mann is the kind of guy you would hate…if he wasn’t so damn lovable.

Dan Mann is the kind of guy you would hate…if he wasn’t so damn lovable.

His full head of shaggy blond hair makes him look 15 years younger than he actually is, he rips at surfing, he’s an even better prone paddler, he is a visionary shaper…and to top it all off he is incredibly genuine and ridiculously smart.

He’s also so down to earth and approachable that it is almost jarring.

Having first met Dan in the Spring of 1991, his is a story I have wanted to tell for a long time. We were finally able to pull it all together recently in our hometown of Coronado, CA, a small spit of land directly across the bay from downtown San Diego.

A creative person myself, I have always been intrigued by Dan’s process and “outside of the box” thinking. In this piece I really wanted to explore how his love of the water not only inspires his creativity, but focuses it as well.

Shot over the course of a single day with a small, agile crew, I’m pleased with the final result. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
